新冠肺炎疫情加剧纽约市内电梯问题

据The City报道，纽约住房管理局高层住宅建筑的电梯时时故障，抗击新冠肺炎疫情对部分居民和维护工人来说更加困难了。在近期，有99栋建筑的电梯设备故障，甚至有的超过24小时无法修复。而在此次疫情之前，当局就计划根据法院判决升级电梯设备，然后现在计划因为疫情而停滞了。相反，目前纽约住房管理局电梯设备部门只有428人，在负责着全市3244台电梯的日常运行。

For some residents and maintenance workers of the NYC Housing Authority's (NYCHA) high-rise residential buildings, coping with the coronavirus is more difficult because of spotty elevator service, The City reports. During a recent four-day period, elevators went out at 99 buildings, and, in some cases, the outages lasted more than 24 hr. Prior to the pandemic, NYCHA had planned, in response to a judge's order, to start upgrading its unreliable elevators, but that work has now been put on hold. Instead, the authority's 428-person elevator unit has been working to keep the 3,244 elevators operational.
