THYSSENKRUPP iWALKS FOR LonGEST PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE IN U.S.
thyssenkrupp Elevator has announced it will provide six iwalks ranging from 150 to 200 ft in length to a pedestrian bridge in Pontiac, Michigan. As what will be the longest pedestrian bridge in the U.S., at 1,000 ft., it will serve the 1.5-million-ft2 campus of United Shore, headquarters of U.S. mortgage lender UWM. Covering the length of the bridge, four iwalks are 200 ft long, and two are 150 ft long. The six units will be installed on the bridge slab but will look flush with the final walking surface. With a compact, modular design weighing approximately 30% less than conventional moving walks, the units will feature sleep mode, resulting in energy savings when no passengers are on them. Sleep mode is also able to monitor how many people are on the units and adjust power usage accordingly.
